LYSOPHOSPHOLIPIDS Role in Nutrient Enhancement

Bird performance has shown consistent improvement over the past few decades. This change has occurred due to improved genetics, precise nutrition and better farm management practices. The industry has undergone a remarkable growth over the last 30 years. Today we see 3 Kg broilers at 40 days of age and egg layers are capable of producing more than 330 eggs in 52 weeks of lay. Nutrition plays a vital role in supporting the desired growth and production performance of birds. Provision of good quality feed with essential nutrients must be ensured. Further, nutrients supplied through feed have to be effectively digested and absorbed. If the nutrients are not absorbed within the time limit, they are attacked by bacteria in the large intestine or excreted as waste, defeating the purpose for which they are fed and reflected in terms of poor growth and productivity. Feed accounts for 65-70% of the total costs in animal production. With the rise in feed costs internationally; the birds'

Butyric acid forms and their Enteric release

A healthy gut is essential for efficient conversion of feed into constituents for optimal nutrient absorption. Gut health is a complex process combining nutrition, microbiology, immunology and physiology. When gut health is compromised, digestion and nutrient absorption are affected, which in turn has a detrimental effect on feed conversion and production. This leads to economic losses and a greater susceptibility to disease.   A characteristic feature of a healthy gut is a large surface area covered with long healthy villi having deep crypts. Deep crypts are indicative of rapid tissue turn over in order to permit regeneration of damaged villi. Longer villi and deeper crypts provide a larger surface area for the absorption of nutrients, allowing efficient enzyme production and maturation of intestinal cells.   In commercial poultry production, it is said that profit comes from a healthy chicken. Healthy chicken comes from healthy gut. Healthy intestinal villi leads to better a

Role of Nutrition in improving immunity

Image
The environmental conditions in which animal species are raised to increase productivity are far from optimal. There has been a lot of interest in the role of nutrition in managing the immune systems of animals in order to enhance productivity. This concept becomes more crucial in the production of animals without growth promoting antibiotics. The necessity to combat anti-microbial resistant bacteria is an issue of high priority for public health and agriculture globally. It is possible to derive preventive and even curative solutions from diets. IMMUNITY: A basic understanding 1.1 The immune system The immune response is an essential defense mechanism of an animal. There are two types of immune response which are identified as (a) Innata immune response and (b) Adaptive immune response. Innate immunity   The innate immune response is a non-specific response that occurs very rapidly leading to an inflammatory process (Oswald, 2013). It is intended to exclude or eliminate pa

Know-edge Technical Symposium For Nepal Consultants

Image
Avitech Nutrition along with its group company Indovax co-hosted a 3 day technical symposium for the poultry consultants from Nepal at Gurugram from 18th April 2019 to 20th April 2019. 12 eminent poultry consultants from Nepal took part in the symposium held under the aegis of Avitech’s “Know-edge” technical symposium series. Renowned international and national guest speakers took sessions on seminal poultry industry topics at the symposium. The external speakers who were invited included Dr. Ramasubba Reddy, Dr. U C Patel and Dr. Jose Oroz. Also included amongst the speakers were in-house scientists – Dr. L M Belwal and Dr. S C Gupta. The topics covered were (i) Battle against Bursal diseases (ii) Low pathogenic Avian influenza (iii) Overcoming the challenges of antibiotics free production programme (iv) Changes in nutritional requirement of TM, Vitamins, Enzymes, Amino acids necessitated due to genetic improvements in breeder (v) Male and Female breeder management – enhancing libid

Upscience Labs Solutions, France team visits Avitech

A two member team comprising Mr. Claude Charreteur and Mr. Renaud Le Bouquin from the Upscience Labs Solutions, France visited Avitech Nutrition, Gurugram, in June 2018. Upscience is an international network of laboratories specializing in physico chemical analysis, microbiology and molecular biology. The visit to Avitech’s NABL ISO 17025 certified Lab at Gurugram, was undertaken by the Upscience team to understand better the state of feed analysis in the Indian subcontinent and opportunities thereof.
